INSPIRING WOMEN

Ambreen

My name is Ambreen Niamat. I belong to Khuda Abad village of Gojal near the Afghan and Chinese borders. I love to sing, and although I am a bit shy, people always ask me to sing our local songs at special occasions and gatherings. I feel so alive every time I am able to do this!

I have six sisters, and all are younger then me! I finished my secondary school in my native village and my parents agreed to send me to the central town of Aliabad-Hunza for further education.

I’m lucky enough to have the opportunity to be a student of SGA, because it is a safe, clean and wonderful place. The management here is very nice, and the students are as passionate and friendly as I had hoped. I joined the academy in April 2009 and here we have facilities for physical fitness, a library and book club for studying, and a computer lab.

I like leadership. My dream is to get higher education and become a politician in future. I know I can bring a change in our society, and I want to be a role model for my sisters so they can follow my footsteps in the future.

Neelum

Hi! I’m Neelum Showkat, and I’m a student in 9th grade. My goal is to become an air force pilot and for that I continuously study hard.

I am very happy to be at SGA. Its home-like environment encourages me to follow my dreams, which a lot of other girls in my area don’t get to do. I learn a lot of new things everyday with my friends. We are lucky to have volunteer teachers, who teach us English language at the academy.  There is a library and lab too that gives us an advantage in our studies.

The staff at the academy is very friendly, so we feel safe and happy here.

Long Live SGA!

Noorida

Hello! I’m Noorida. Here at the academy I have the position of Monitor, which makes it my responsibility to control the timetables of other students in their studies, games and cleaning. I belong to Ghulkin Village in Gojal. For me the first and foremost priority are my studies. I am determined to become a doctor so I must always pay close attention to my schoolwork and push to become the best.

Luckily I am a student of Shadow Girls Academy. We have a great atmosphere here. The campus is set aside from the road area which helps it remain peaceful and safe. At the academy we have a chance to learn a lot from foreign teachers, who instruct us not only in language but help us learn about other cultures too. Attending library is our daily routine thatgives us the added advantage of reading and learning through books.

Nasab

My name is Nasab. I belong to Gulmit, a village situated along the Karakoram Highway in the upper Hunza Valley. I completed my school studies in my native village and for college I moved to Aliabad-Hunza.

SGA is an ideal place for a student. From the campus we have a breathtaking view of the Rakaposhi, Ultar , and Spantik peaks and many other peaks above 7000m!I like that our academy is tucked away in a wooded hillside, shadowed by apricot and apple trees.

My parents and my family members have a lot of expectations that I succeed in school, and I hope to fulfill their dreams as well as my own. I work hard everyday to be the best and hopefully become an engineer in the future.
